Annapolis, MD — Carolynn Grammas, a veteran Maryland prosecutor with more than 25 years of experience, will officially launch her campaign tonight for Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney in the Democratic primary.
The public kickoff will be held tonight from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Miller’s Ale House, 178 Jennifer Road, Annapolis, MD.
Grammas served as an Anne Arundel County Assistant State’s Attorney for over two decades and, as of October 2025, serves as an Assistant State’s Attorney with the St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.
She has led the Auto Manslaughter Trial Team, prosecuted violent crime, and served as Deputy Chief of District Court in Anne Arundel County. Her career has been defined by unquestioned integrity, tough, hands-on prosecution, principled leadership, and a steadfast commitment to victims.
Throughout her career, Grammas has worked closely with victims and their families to ensure they are informed, respected, and confident their cases were handled ethically and lawfully.
“Carolynn did so much for my family and son during the trial. She is such an asset to victims. It is comforting to know we have Ms. Grammas supporting victims in Anne Arundel County,”
— Kimberly Funk Sizemore, mother of a drunk-driving victim
“Justice requires integrity, and victims deserve a State’s Attorney they can trust,” Grammas said. “For more than 25 years, I’ve stood with victims, prosecuted serious crime, and insisted on doing things the right way. I’m running to restore ethical leadership and rebuild trust in the State’s Attorney’s Office.”
Grammas previously left the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office after raising serious concerns about ethical violations under the current State’s Attorney, choosing accountability over silence. A former federal law clerk, Grammas believes justice depends not only on strong prosecutions, but on an office culture grounded in ethics and professionalism. As State’s Attorney, she will focus on supporting ethical prosecutors, restoring credibility, and delivering convictions that are fair, lawful, and built to last.
Her work has earned recognition from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Anne Arundel County Police Department, and the U.S. Department of Justice. She has also testified before the Maryland General Assembly in support of legislation strengthening penalties for manslaughter, drunk and drugged driving, and reckless conduct that endangers families.
Carolynn Grammas is a wife, mother, and grandmother, married for more than 30 years, with three grown children. She is running because Anne Arundel County deserves a State’s Attorney who puts victims first and restores integrity to the justice system.
Justice you can trust. Fairness you deserve.
